2008 Note From Chairperson

Bringing together readers, writers, authors & poets.

Detroit, MI - Motown Writers Network & Equity in Partnership presents the 5th Annual Essence of Motown Literary Jam. This 2008 event, the one and only Detroit writing network of its kind hosted by Motown Writers Network and The Michigan Literary Network, will feature national and local authors and events.

Attendees will experience workshops ranging from self-publishing to editing and marketing. Celebrity book signings and social gatherings with other writers and readers will add to the excitement of the event. Some events are free to readers. See conference website: http://essenceofmotown.com ( http://essenceofmotown.com/ ) for more details.

We are in for an exciting time for 2008. This is our fifth year and we want to give Detroit the biggest literary event ever possilbe. So we are calling all readers, writers, authors, publishers and poets to show their presence.

As participants, we ask that you help us spread the word about this important event. Because it's not about us just showing that we care about the literary world of Michigan, but it's also about us creating a strong literary network and celebrating our love for the written word.

The chairperson, Sylvia Hubbard, started this conference because she wanted to do this. Her passion, hard work and determination shows at each event and in her every day literary life. As a single mother of three, she uses her own financial means along with grants to make this conference come to fruition, but this is a mountain to climb and she cannot do it alone.

To offer your support place an ad (whether you're coming or not), get a vending table, provide pormotional material to us. Email us to receive the packet and/or sign up for updates to keep abreast of all the literary jam updates.

We need all the help we can get and we're asking the entire Michigan Literary community to come together.

We are at the Sheraton Detroit Riverside in beautiful Downtown Detroit. We're reserved early so that you may start preparing for the largest literary conference this side of the Mississippi.

This helps us with administration costs of providing the events, and supporting our many websites that assist
Michigan writers and authors with more support for their projects.

If you would like to make a donation to our campaign to strengthen the Metro Detroit's largest literary organization, please email us. Our donations page will be up soon.
In the future, we hope to have an offline literary magazine, work on getting the national literary events in Detroit, television projects, our own publishing and distribution service, & even a literary emporium in the city of Detroit.

Thanks so much for helping us strengthen the literary community in Michigan
